Contactlab Pattern Library – NOW Public and Open Source

Open Source UI components and visual style guide to create consistency and unforgettable user experiences.

How to achieve this? We need to have a single point of reference for all the patterns we use. And everyone can access and refer to them. Then we also need a shared vocabulary of UI elements and code and allow teams in this way to communicate with each other in the most efficient way possible.

What have we done? We created and just released this pattern library with important goals in mind. Some above all:

  • to ensure a consistent use of patterns and UI elements
  • to provide guidance on correct usage of the patterns
  • to encourage the re-use of code reducing redundancy to a minimum

The Contactlab Pattern Library is built from the Polymer Project by Google which extends the Web Components specification that allows to define customised HTML tags.

How it looks like? It is a “living neverending document” that has to be always and promptly updated when the code, underlying the features, changes or when a new pattern is introduced.
