Configuring a Real-time Source

Note:
The following description uses an Abandoned cart event as an example. However, provided an event has been configured in Settings > Customer hub > Events, it will be available for selection.

Ensure you have selected Real-time on the New automation page, then do the following to configure the source:

  1. Click Real-time Source in the Automation configuration panel.
    The Source configuration options display in the Sidebar.
  2. Under Triggering event, select the event that will trigger a contact to be added to the automation.
    For example, Abandoned cart.

  3. Under Event rules, add a condition to further refine the incoming event, if required, as follows:
    1. Click Add condition, then select the appropriate one.
      For example, amount – total.
      Note:
      The available event rule conditions vary, according to the Incoming event that is selected.

    2. Select the required operator type.
      For example, Equal to or greater than.
    3. In the next field, enter the appropriate value or text, according to the type of condition selected.
      For example, 100.
    4. Click Add condition, to define further event rule conditions, if required.
  4. Under Demographic rules, add a customer-related demographic property condition, to further refine the incoming event, if required, as follows:
    1. Click Add condition, then select the appropriate one.
      For example, extended – loyalty_status.
      Note:
      The available conditions include both base and extended properties, as defined in Hub for the relevant workspace.

    2. Select the required operator type.
      For example, Equal to.
    3. In the next field, enter the appropriate value or text, according to the type of condition selected.
      For example, Gold.
    4. Click Add condition, to define further demographic rule conditions, if required.
  5. Under Action step dynamic personalization attributes, do the following, to further define the event, if required:
    1. Click the Insert text… field and, for example, enter a relevant product name, such as ‘red boots with heels’.
    2. Click Select… and choose the appropriate property type, for example, Event property.
      A new Select… field displays.
    3. Select a property from the drop-down list.
      For example, products – name.
      Note:
      The available attribute properties vary, according to the Incoming event and the property type that is selected.
    4. Click Add attribute, to define further attributes, if required.
  6. Under Removing event, click Select…, and choose an event that will trigger a contact to be removed from the automation, if required.
    For example, Completed order.
    If the Removing event is the same as the Triggering event, check the box to force removing the customer when both conditions are satisfied, if required.

  7. When you are finished, click the Automation configuration panel, to continue creating the automation.
